The drafting chairs raise the seat to about 29–30", which suits standing desks, counters and drafting tables. At that height your feet can't reach the floor, so an adjustable metal foot ring is mounted on the gas lift. Loosen the knob, slide the ring to where your feet land naturally, and tighten it again.

Assembly & Setup Guide

Care & Troubleshooting

  • Cleaning: Wipe the PU leather with a damp cloth, or a little mild soap, then dry it. Vacuum or wipe dust off the mesh. Avoid harsh or abrasive cleaners.
  • Every few months: Check and re-tighten all screws. Clear hair and lint out of the casters so they keep rolling smoothly.
  • Wobbles or squeaks: Re-tighten the bolts and make sure the casters are fully seated. A little silicone lubricant on moving joints stops squeaking.
  • Height won't hold: Make sure the lever is pulled all the way. If the seat still sinks, the gas lift needs replacing, so contact the seller through the Amazon order.

    Unpack on a soft surface

    Lay every part out on a rug or the box lid so nothing gets scratched, and check them against the parts list. All screws and a hex wrench come in the hardware bag. One adult usually finishes in 15–30 minutes.

    Build the base

    Press the five casters into the star base until they snap in. Drop the gas lift into the center hole. On a drafting chair, slide the foot ring over the cylinder before the seat goes on.

    Attach arms, back and seat

    Screw the armrests and backrest to the seat following the illustrated steps. Snug every screw, but don't overtighten it. Then lower the seat onto the gas lift and sit down firmly to seat it.

    Set the seat height

    Pull up the lever on the right under the seat. Stay seated to lower the chair, or lift your weight off to raise it, then let go to lock. Your thighs should be level and your elbows at desk height.

    Position the lumbar pad

    Slide the pad, or turn its knob on the 910P X, until it sits in the small of your back, just above the belt line.

    Unlock rocking and set tension

    Pull the tilt lever outward to let the back rock, and push it in to lock upright. Turn the knob under the front of the seat clockwise for a firmer rock and counter-clockwise for a looser one. Loosen the knob first if the back won't move.

    Adjust the foot ring (drafting chairs)

    Loosen the ring's knob, slide it to where your feet rest comfortably with knees about level, and tighten it firmly before putting your weight on it.

For a standard 28–30" desk, choose an office chair. The LDL-929 has the thicker sponge seat and a rocking back that tilts to 120°. It is the most-reviewed model, with over 3,000 ratings. The 910P X sits a little higher, at 18.8–22.6", and has a chrome base and a knob-adjusted lumbar pad. Both hold 300 lb.

A drafting chair is an office chair on a longer gas lift, with a foot ring. You need one if your work surface is counter height, 36–42", such as a standing desk kept up, a drafting table, a kitchen island, a reception counter or a craft bench. The 908BT and 968LT seats reach about 29–30".

The LDL-929, 910P X and 908BT are rated for 300 lb (136 kg). The 968LT is the big-and-tall model, rated for 400 lb. It has a metal base, a Class-4 gas lift and a widened metal footrest.
